||Mercy Mercy, a new name in these parts, comprises experienced players who share a love of rootsy repertoire and put a fresh spin on the music - including instrumental versions of classic tunes. The band's soulful message is offered by the intimate vocals and guitar stylings of Darryl Torchia, a veteran of Winnipeg's blues and gospel scene, teacher to many prominent local guitarists (and a darn nice guy). The solid electric and upright basses courtesy of Alistair Mackintosh, who has been plying his trade for over a dozen years, including the rockabilly outfit, The Throbtones, stars at the 2003 Jazz Winnipeg Festival.
Harmonica player Chris Palmer has played and recorded with many rock Hall of Famers, especially in his days with Apple and
Dark Horse records. He comes to Winnipeg via Ottawa and Vancouver Island, bringing with him a wealth of experience and taste.
Hear the band! And before long you'll be saying ....Mercy Mercy!
